This relaxed eatery projects a European ambiance and flaunting Italian specialties. Feast upon sensational textures and flavors with seasonal menus. If it’s fresh and blooming then it will be served on a plate at Bar Toma.

The food exceeds expectation, but the wine receives a standing ovation. 60 Italian wines are offered year round as well as two wines on tap. Chef Tony Mantuano, competitor of season two “Top Chef Masters,” successfully fulfilled his dream of producing an Italian neighborhood pizzeria and bar. The wood-fire pizzas offer a taste of Italy in Chicago and a plethora of meats and cheeses will satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Take advantage of Chicago’s fine summer weather by sitting outside on the balcony or inside the restaurant where the walls disappear like a garage door. Plus, the bar welcomes everyone as a first or last resort.

Spotlight dishes:
Glazed lamb Ribs: Brine, braised and then seared on a poncho, brisket style. These glazed lamb ribs will even have Mary eating this little lamb.
Charred Carrots: Carrots grilled to perfection mixed in Acetaia San Giacomo balsamico taste creatively sweet. Crushed almonds balance the flavor with a salty vibe and the dish appears to look like a sundae with goat cheese on top.

Treviso and Goat Cheese Crostini: Treviso paired with capriole goat cheese provides a unique experience for taste buds. The pairing of the smooth spread on top of a buttery crostini will make any vegan convert back to dairy.

The gelato bar greets every customer at the end of the meal. Made fresh daily, this gelato will only escape Bar Toma if it’s inside your belly.
