Pregame every single workout with a nutritious meal that will give your body power. Many factors count in health and fitness and proper nutrition is the big man on the top.
Hydrate before every single workout. I am a big fan of getting my workouts over with in the morning so I can enjoy the day high off endorphins. Certified Pilates instructor, Paula Barg says, “Eat something full of water in the morning as soon as you wake up. Fruits such as watermelon, apples, grapes contain mass amounts of water.” Hydration is key to prevent fatigue and to help cool the body down.

Sports drinks with electrolytes, such as Gatorade, are great for longer workouts. They provide more sugar and carbohydrates than water, which help keep a steady charge through the body.
For my friends that workout later in the day, eat a carbohydrate about 2 hours before exercise. Consume something small like a power bar or bread with peanut butter on top. Eating breads and whole grain pastas are also a good choice because they are simple carbohydrates that are easily digested.

Also, combine carbohydrates and protein for those tough races. “The day before a marathon, my dad and I go to the grocery store and get lots of food. I always eat a bagel, eggs, banana, Gatorade, and a little granola,” says Chicago Marathon runner Ila Rabinowitz. The carbohydrate and protein mix help Rabinowitz stay full and strong through her run. Eggs are a great choice because they are a complex carbohydrate and also a great source of protein.
